Rudraksha (Sanskrit: रुद्राक्ष) is a sacred seed traditionally used as a prayer bead in Hinduism, Buddhism, and other spiritual practices. Derived from the fruit of the Rudraksha tree (Elaeocarpus ganitrus), these beads are believed to have originated from the tears of Lord Shiva, hence the name: “Rudra” (a form of Shiva) + “Aksha” (eye/teardrop) = Tears of Rudra.
